As a concerned parent living in Lake Country, BC, Canada, I am deeply worried about the potential health implications of cellular towers and antennas, including 5G technology. My children's safety is my utmost priority and the thought of them being exposed to potentially harmful radiation from these structures is concerning. 

The World Health Organization International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified magnetic field and radiofrequency radiation as a Group 2B possible carcinogen (link). This means that there could be some risk of carcinogenicity, so additional research into long-term heavy use of wireless devices needs to be conducted (link). Additional studies have found increased mortality rate for residents living with 500m of a cell tower (link) and increased rates of death for all types of cancer due to radiation exposure from cell phone towers (link). Other studies conclude that current safety standards for radiation exposure are based on inaccurate information making them "unsuitable for health risk assessment." This should be addressed so that decision-makers and organizations can fulfil safeguarding responsibilities (link). Further studies correlate various cancers to cell tower proximity (link). While we wait for more conclusive results, it seems prudent to err on the side of caution.

In light of this information and out of concern for our citizens' health - and specifically our children's health - I am urging our local council to create a bylaw prohibiting all 5G cellular towers and antennas on public property within the District of Lake Country. By doing so, we can reduce their exposure to potentially harmful non-ionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF) until more definitive scientific evidence is available.

I understand that this would have minimal impact to cell service in our area (being that it is a preventative request against the placement of new 5G cellular towers/antennae in the future), but believe that safeguarding our children's health should always be paramount. We must prioritize their well-being above all else.

Please join me in urging the Lake Country Council to take action now by signing this petition. Together we can make a difference in protecting our children from potential harm caused by cellular towers' radiation.
