Demand Kean University to offer alumni email alternatives

Demand Kean University to offer alumni email alternatives
The Issue
Kean University has always encouraged alumni to use their Kean email and Google Drive as reliable, professional tools for communication, academic work, and long‑term storage.
Kean Gmail and Google Workspace have been indispensable tools in our professional and personal lives. We built résumés, applied for jobs, stored important documents, communicated with employers, and maintained essential connections with fellow alumni, college professors, and industry professionals.
However, Kean University recently announced in an email (received by some, but not all, alumni) that all alumni will lose access to their Google Workspace accounts (including Gmail inbox, Google Drive files, Photos, contacts, and calendar). Even alumni who were previously migrated to Microsoft 365 during their time at Kean will also lose their alumni accounts.
The discontinuation of these services has left thousands of graduates feeling disappointed in—and discarded by—our university. Removing email access and storage sends the message that alumni are no longer valued once they graduate, weakening the long‑term relationship between Kean and its graduates. This is especially disappointing to those of us who paid tens of thousands of dollars to attend Kean, routinely donate to Kean, and stay involved with the community.
This also goes against what Kean University States on their alumni page.
We respectfully request that Kean University continue providing alumni who frequently use their alumni accounts with access to an alternative Kean‑issued email account and cloud storage. Several universities have successfully migrated to alternative systems, such as Office 365, and offer lifetime alumni email access because they understand how essential it is for graduates’ careers and professional identity. Kean should stand with its alumni—not cut them off.
Please sign this petition to let your voice be heard and advocate for a satisfactory resolution for every Kean University graduate affected by this change.
