Justice for Families Affected by D.J. Granville’s Corrupt Conduct

We are calling for a full independent review of every criminal case connected to former Erie County Sheriff’s Narcotics Chief D.J. Granville.

For years, families trusted the justice system to be fair, honest, and constitutional. But recent court findings and public reports have raised serious concerns about misconduct tied to investigations involving Granville and his narcotics unit.

A federal judge described Granville’s actions as “an egregious violation of the Fourth Amendment” after allegations surfaced involving unlawful searches, misleading a judge, and staged evidence during a federal drug case. Public reporting also revealed accusations that evidence was improperly handled and that constitutional rights may have been violated. (WGRZ)

At the same time, the public witnessed additional troubling behavior involving Granville, including guilty pleas connected to reckless driving and leaving the scene after crashing into multiple parked vehicles in Buffalo, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage involving a county-owned vehicle. This petition is not about attacking law enforcement as a whole. Many officers serve honorably every day. This is about accountability when power is abused and when families may have lost years, freedom, time with children, opportunities, and peace because of unconstitutional or dishonest tactics.

We demand:
• An independent review of all cases connected to D.J. Granville and his narcotics unit
• Transparency from Erie County officials regarding affected prosecutions
• Immediate review of convictions involving questionable evidence or searches
• Protection of constitutional rights for every citizen
• Justice for families who believe they were harmed by misconduct

No family should have to wonder whether their loved one is sitting in prison because of false evidence, illegal searches, or dishonest police practices.

Buffalo deserves transparency.
Families deserve answers.
Justice deserves accountability.
