The issue

A five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by boys her own age during school hours in her school playground at North Rocks Public School in northwest Sydney
Her injuries were so severe she needed hospital care.
Her parents weren’t informed.
NSW Police investigated — and no action was taken.

This happened in Sydney, Australia — in a public school.
And the NSW Department of Education has remained silent.

But this is not just a New South Wales issue.
This is a national failure.

I am calling on:

  • The NSW Department of Education
  • The NSW Police Force
  • The Hon. Prue Car MP (Minister for Education and Early Learning)
  • Premier Chris Minns
  • The Hon. Jason Clare MP (Federal Minister for Education)
  • The Hon. Amanda Rishworth MP (Federal Minister for Social Services)
  • The Hon. Anne Aly MP (Federal Minister for Early Childhood Education and Youth)
  • Prime Minister Anthony Albanese

To take immediate and meaningful action:

  1. Launch an independent investigation into the school’s handling of the incident
  2. Provide public accountability for the failure in duty of care
  3. Mandate age-appropriate consent and respect education across all Australian schools
  4. Increase playground supervision and child safety protocols
  5. Establish clear reporting and justice pathways for families and victims
  6. Invest in programs that teach consent, reduce bias, and build cultures of respect — for children, parents, teachers, and communities.

Because we cannot do this alone.
It is not enough to expect individuals to carry the burden.
We must invest in change. We must invest in women.
We must invest in programs that create safer schools, stronger communities, and a society where every child—and especially every girl—is protected, believed in, and safe.

This isn’t just about one little girl.
This is about every child. Every parent. Every educator and officer trying to do the right thing—and needing the systems to support them.

I’m a mother. I’m an advocate. I’ve been fighting for over 20 years to keep girls safe. And I will not look away.

If we stay silent, we are part of the problem.
If we don’t act, we break.

For her. For every girl.
