Demand justice for victims of dv abuse and cyber crimes
The Issue
In 2017, I did what many deem impossible: I escaped a documented domestic violence situation with my children, and continued horrific abuse over a stolen inheritance that was supposed to lead me and my children out of a bad adoption case I was in by my greedy brothers who stole my inheritance on my adopted mothers death bed out of spite and hate due to race discrimination, once escape believing that a life of safety and recovery awaited us. Instead, this chapter has unfolded into an ongoing nightmare of fear, instability, and financial devastation. Despite leaving behind a life of abuse, I find myself entangled in a web of identity theft, tax fraud, and coercive control. These crimes, perpetrated through impersonation and fraudulent filings, have kept me bound to a past I struggle to move beyond.
The misuse of my Social Security information and the illegal claiming of my assets has wreaked havoc on my family’s life. This is not just my story; it is the story of countless women and children who have been victims of domestic violence only to find themselves ensnared in a new wave of attacks via cyber crimes, bullying, and hate crimes.
These crimes against women are pervasive and debilitating, resonating far beyond the initial act of domestic violence. According to the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), approximately 90% of victims find their personal information misused online by their abusers. Cyber crimes and hate crimes against women are a growing crisis that needs urgent attention and decisive action from our authorities.
With this petition, we call upon state and federal governments to overhaul the current systems dealing with domestic violence, cyber crimes, and hate crimes against women, ensuring they adequately protect and empower victims. We demand stronger laws against identity theft, stringent enforcement of those laws, and support mechanisms that prioritize the safety and recovery of survivors.
Moreover, law enforcement agencies need specialized training in handling cases of domestic violence entangled with cyber crime and identity theft. A comprehensive and collaborative approach is crucial in ensuring that survivors of domestic violence do not fall victim to further abuse through these insidious crimes.
Join me in demanding justice and support for victims of domestic violence and associated cyber crimes. Your signature can help break the cycle of abuse and ensure a safer future for survivors. Please sign and share this petition to support reform and enact the change we desperately need.
