Demand Justice for Unjust Incarceration and Address Racial Disparity in Prison System

The Issue

My brother has been incarcerated for over a decade in the state of Georgia, serving time for a crime he did not commit. Despite repeated attempts to drop his charges or secure a retrial, the state has consistently failed to provide my brother and his lawyer with necessary information pertaining to his case. This denial of justice is not only personal but also indicative of a larger systemic issue.

The mass incarceration rate in the United States is alarmingly high, disproportionately affecting Black men. According to NAACP, African Americans are incarcerated at more than five times the rate of white Americans (NAACP). In Georgia specifically, Black men constitute 61% of the prison population while they represent only 31% of the total state population (Prison Policy Initiative).

This petition seeks not only justice for my brother but also aims to bring attention to this widespread racial disparity within our prison system. We demand that Georgia's legal authorities release all pertinent information regarding my brother's case and grant him a fair retrial.

We also urge lawmakers and policy influencers across all states to address this racial disproportionality in our incarceration rates by implementing comprehensive criminal justice reform measures.

Please sign this petition if you believe in equal justice under law and stand against systemic racism. Let us hold those accountable who have denied my brother his rights and work towards creating an equitable society where race does not determine one's freedom or punishment.
