My family was devastated when we learnt about the horrifying crime committed against my minor daughter. My own brother, someone we initially trusted, sexually abused her while I was in Canada. The trauma caused has been unimaginable and has left deep emotional scars on both my daughter and our family.

Sexual abuse is a serious crime, and around 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys become victims of child sexual assault by an adult in their lives (Statistics from National Sexual Violence Resource Center). This horrifying trend is unacceptable and those who commit such acts should face the appropriate justice. There can be no place in our society for those who abuse minors.

My brother must be punished for his actions to deter similar incidents from happening in the future. We demand that law enforcement authorities and the justice system take immediate, appropriate action against my brother for his crimes.
