Demand Justice for the Da'awaley Massacre committed by the paramilitary group liyu police
The Issue
We, the undersigned, demand immediate action in response to the tragic events that took place in the Da'awaley, under the somali regional administration in Ethiopia.
On 22/12/2024 the Somali regional administration in Ethiopia deployed the paramilitary group known as the liyu police, under the leadership of the army Commander and with orders from Somali regional administration President Mustafa Agjar and his Vice President, committed a horrific act of genocide. They deliberately targeted innocent civilians—women, children, and the elderly—simply because they did not belong to the same ethnic group as the perpetrators.
The violence left countless lives destroyed, families torn apart, and a community that has suffered deeply from these senseless acts. The perpetrators, acting on the orders of the somali regional administrations leadership, must be held accountable for their actions.
We call on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and other international bodies to:
• Investigate the massacre in Da'awaley.
• Hold those responsible, including President Mustafa Agjar, his Vice President, and the military commanders who issued these orders, accountable for their actions.
• Ensure that justice is served for the victims of this massacre and that such crimes do not go unpunished.
The international community must act urgently to protect the victims' rights and hold the perpetrators accountable. We demand the world act now.
We call for:
• An independent and transparent investigation into the events that occurred in Da'awaley.
• Immediate steps taken to bring those responsible to justice under international law.
• Full protection and support for the victims and their families.
