Demand justice for Tanzanian electoral fraud

Demand justice for Tanzanian electoral fraud
The Issue
The 2025 Tanzanian general election stands as a testament to the blatant disregard for democratic processes and the will of the people. As a concerned citizen, it is disheartening to witness an election that was not a contest of ideas, but rather an orchestrated fraud intended to cement the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party's grip on power. The incumbent President, Samia Suluhu Hassan, was declared victorious with an implausibly high 98% of the vote, a statistic that should raise alarm bells for supporters of democracy worldwide.
International observers and reputable human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the European Parliament, have unequivocally condemned the election as a sham. Reports from these organizations highlight systemic vote manipulation, intimidation, and repression of opposition parties, particularly Chadema, which severely undermined the democratic integrity of the election.
The election was thus neither free nor fair, leading to widespread protests and violence, with many courageous Tanzanians taking to the streets to voice their dissent. The government's response to these protests, involving further repression and bloodshed, only adds to the list of gross human rights violations that have marred this election cycle.
In solidarity with the people of Tanzania and the global community, we urge the international community and the United Nations to intervene and take decisive action to rectify this grievous injustice. An independent and transparent investigation must be initiated to hold those responsible for electoral fraud and human rights abuses accountable.
By raising our voices collectively, we can pressure international bodies to act. Democracy and justice should never be compromised. We must stand firmly and demand accountability. We call upon you to sign this petition and join us in our quest for electoral justice in Tanzania.
