My name is Abby Davis.  One of my very good childhood friends was ruthlessly murdered in Roatan, Honduras by another American citizen.  The police do not appear to be doing anything.  I am writing to ask for help regarding the murder of US citizen, Robert Carter, on the island of Roatan, Honduras on September 4th, 2024.

Robert Carter Jr, Passport# 598720205, had rented an apartment from a Bruce Nicholls (also a US citizen) in the area of Sunset Villas in West End, Roatan, January 2024. Very shortly afterwards, Robert began to complain that Bruce was very difficult to be around, and seemed to enjoy toxic behavior. After a few months, Robert began searching for a new apartment while trying to remove himself from Bruce. He succeeded in mid-August, and moved into a new location away from Bruce. Bruce was unhappy that Robert had moved out, evidently due to it being low season.

Bruce refused to refund the security deposit over some stained bedding, even though Robert wanted to pay for the bedding. Robert's girlfriend stated that Robert was very relieved to be free of Bruce, and never wanted to see him again. However, a package that Robert had ordered with items from Amazon arrived, and Robert was notified that he needed to retrieve it from the old address at Bruce’s location. Upon arriving, Bruce and Robert argued, and Bruce shot and killed Robert. Bruce stated that Robert arrived with a gun, and somehow Bruce, who is a much smaller man than Robert, was able to take the gun and fire one fatal shot to Robert’s chest. Bruce is claiming self-defense.
Knowing his character, Robert didn’t have a gun in Honduras and would not have been worried about his safety around Bruce as Bruce was smaller in stature. In addition, his girlfriend states that he had no gun.

It would seem that there is a push to make a quick investigation of this locally on the Island of Roatan by using Bruce's self-defense statement.
However, there has been no thorough investigation. The local police have not been to Robert's new residence, nor interviewed his girlfriend. The amazon package seems to be lost. Robert Sr (of McKinney, TX) has not been apprised of the results of any ongoing investigation.

We are demanding that the US embassy in Honduras dispatch the Special Crime Unit Investigators immediately to perform a full and thorough investigation into this, as soon as possible, as it would seem there may be an effort to damage the scene and evidence.
