Demand Justice for Nepal’s Youth: End Violence and Corruption Now

Demand Justice for Nepal’s Youth: End Violence and Corruption Now
The Issue
On 8 September 2025, thousands of young Nepalis gathered peacefully in Kathmandu to protest against corruption and government failures. Instead of listening, the government answered with violence and censorship.
- A 16 year old student in school uniform was shot dead.
- Police fired live bullets and tear gas at peaceful crowds, aiming at heads and chests.
- Hospitals were attacked - tear gas fired near Civil Service Hospital, and blood donors beaten at Bir Hospital.
- The government banned Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube to silence millions of voices. Families at home and abroad were cut off.
- This is not law enforcement. This is state violence and murder of minors.
Who Is Responsible?
We hold accountable:
- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli
- Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak (resigned but still responsible)
- Raju Aryal, Head of Armed Police Force
- Chhabi Lal Rijal, Chief District Administration Officer, Kathmandu
- Prithvi Subba Gurung, Minister of Communication & IT
They must not only resign - they must face independent investigation and prosecution.
Violations of Law
These acts violate:
- Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) - Articles 6, 13, 15, 37
- International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) - Articles 6, 19, 21
- Nepal’s Constitution (2015) - Articles 17, 18, 19, 35
What We Demand
We call on the UN, UNICEF, OHCHR, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and democratic governments (US, UK, EU) to:
- Condemn the killings of minors and protestors.
- Launch an independent UN investigation.
- Demand the restoration of digital freedoms.
- Apply diplomatic pressure to stop violence.
- Ensure prosecution of those responsible.
Why Sign
When a 16-year-old student can be killed for speaking out, the future of Nepal’s children is at stake. We need the world’s voice now.
👉 Sign this petition to stand with Nepal’s youth and demand justice. Nepal’s youth should not have to choose between silence or death. By signing, you are saying: the world is watching, and Nepal’s children are not alone.
