Demand Justice for My Son and Accountability from The Halifax Academy
The Issue
My son was a bright, clever child who needed just a bit more understanding due to his unique needs. I dedicated myself to ensuring he felt supported, loved, and cared for. It devastates me that, under the care of The Halifax Academy, my son was fatally let down. In a classroom filled with students, under the supervision of a teacher, my son was assaulted and no one stepped in to help him. Outrageously, these events contributed to the tragic loss of my son.
Despite his cries for help and obvious distress, no actions were taken. The incident was left unrecorded in the First Aid book, and shamefully, I was not even informed about the situation that unfolded. My son spent the remainder of the day in excruciating pain, unable to share his suffering with anyone at the school, until he returned home severely injured and began vomiting. His voice was silenced and disregarded. He reported the assault to his form Tutor. He was not heard. No one checked him, no one called me or administered First aid. No child deserves to suffer.
This further resulted to my son being hospitalised and consequently resulted in neglect from both the school and those in charge of his care later, however without the neglect my son suffered at the hands of the school, he would not have been in such a vulnerable position as he was that tragically caused the loss of his life at only 12 years old on the 20th of May 2025 after fighting for his life continuously since November 2023.
It is imperative that there is accountability within The Halifax Academy starting with the resignation of the Head Teacher Mr Perry. No child should endure what my son experienced—feeling invisible and ignored. Teachers should not turn away in the face of a child's suffering. There must also be a thorough investigation into the practices at this school to ensure no other child or family suffers the same tragedy.
This tragic saga is a compelling call to action for our community in Halifax, UK. Our children deserve a safe, caring environment where they are listened to and protected. We must prevent this pain from touching yet another family. Hold The Halifax Academy accountable.
