She was physically and verbally assaulted by members of the Chicago Police Department, the very individuals who are sworn to protect and serve us. Instead of being treated with the dignity and respect she deserves, she was subjected to a terrifying ordeal. This incident has not only left her traumatized but has also shaken our entire family's faith in the justice system.

We understand that law enforcement officers have a challenging job; however, this does not excuse the abuse of power and violation of rights. My daughter was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, and like any parent, I am devastated and outraged by what happened. The scars of this night run deep, not just for her, but for many teens, especially from minority communities, who face similar threats.

Statistics show that police misconduct is a significant issue in Chicago. According to a 2020 report by the USA Today, the city has paid over $500 million in settlements for police misconduct over the past decade. This reflects a deep-rooted problem that must be addressed immediately.

We are calling on the Mayor of Chicago, the Chief of Police, and the city's oversight committees to take concrete steps to ensure such incidents do not happen again. This includes:
