The Issue

Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosu, a German widow, has faced an incredible injustice in the Ghanaian legal system. After the passing of her husband, she was thrust into a legal battle to claim her rightful status as the only surviving spouse. Despite providing a legitimate marriage certificate from Germany, Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur of a Ghanaian high court rejected the certificate, dismissing it as "fake" without proper verification.

This situation has left Mrs. Fosu in turmoil, not only grieving the loss of her husband but also fighting to protect her legal rights and her husband's legacy. Such a dismissal of evidence, especially an official document from a respected international institution, is unacceptable and undermines the credibility of our justice system.

In Germany, marriage certificates are governed by strict regulations and are authenticated by government authorities. There is verifiable proof that Mrs. Fosu's certificate was issued and recognized under such standards. Accusing her of presenting fraudulent documentation opens the door for unjust prejudice against international marriages and disrespects the processes of foreign legal systems.

We must compel the relevant authorities to revisit Mrs. Fosu's case with the due diligence it deserves. A comprehensive review of the facts should be conducted, ensuring that all evidence is evaluated fairly and without bias. Independent experts familiar with German legal documentation should be consulted. This will ensure that justice prevails and that Mrs. Fosu's rights are upheld.

Your support is crucial. By signing this petition, you can help us urge the Ghanaian Judicial Council and other oversight bodies to intervene and ensure fairness and transparency in this case. Stand with us to demand justice for Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosu and protect the integrity of international legal relationships. Please sign and share this petition to drive positive change.
