Nicole Cooper neglected her two dogs, leaving them in a flat to die. She owned Bruno & Aniyla for 3 years since they were 8 weeks old, but deserted them in October 2024 and did not return. These helpless, innocent pets suffered a cruel and inhumane death because of the owner's actions.

She plead guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal following a prosecution by the RSPCA for the pets "inhumane deaths". The dogs were left to starve to death, Bruno was found in a cage nowhere near big enough for him to be in for more than a few hours, with Aniyla found lying next to her brother, outside of the cage. The details below are from the report on the news:

*A vet who examined the dogs' bodies stated that their ultimate cause of death would have been dehydration and starvation, leading to organ failure throughout the body.

In a report presented to the court, the vet described the suffering they experienced prior to their deaths as "physically and mentally intense and extremely unpleasant", labelling their passing as "a very inhumane way to die".*

These dogs gave her nothing but unconditional love and in return she made them suffer. Nicole moved in with her girlfriend, they carried on as normal for 8 months, got 2 new puppies, all the while both knowing the dogs were left in her flat to die.

In recent months, lots of family & friends had questioned Nicole about Bruno & Aniyla (as they hadn't seen the dogs for ages) and she claimed they'd been rehomed. But then only weeks ago, she made another claim that the RSPCA took them. The acquaintances have been checking online regularly in the hope to find the dogs on the site for adoption. On the 20th June, after 8 months of lies, the devastating news came out, family and friends found out the truth from the news report. Complete shock and heartbreak hit.

No animal should ever have to endure such brutality. Yet, despite the severity of this crime, the individual responsible was given just a one-year custodial sentence, suspended over two years. This is in no way justice for the two dogs who lost their lives in such a tragic manner. We believe that this punishment is not nearly severe enough to reflect the gravity of the crime committed.

It is not an easy process to get a sentence changed, but the more who sign the higher chance this case could go through an appeal procedure. By gathering signatures and presenting a petition to relevant authorities (like a court or government body), it could potentially encourage them to review the sentence.

Cases like these call for stricter penalties to deter such acts of cruelty against animals. There are millions of cases of animal abuse every year, but very few result in significant legal action. By increasing sentencing for severe animal cruelty cases, we can send a strong message that society will not tolerate such behavior.

There needs to be a reevaluation of the judicial approach to animal cruelty, ensuring that the law serves to protect those who cannot protect themselves. We urge the legal system to reconsider the current sentence and impose a harsher penalty, one that truly reflects the seriousness of this heinous act.

Please join me in demanding justice for these two innocent dogs and assist in promoting a change that could prevent future acts of animal cruelty. Sign this petition to ensure justice is served and to advocate for stronger animal protection laws.
