The Issue

My son recently faced significant challenges during his Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), which go beyond the typical stress and rigors expected from such a crucial test. The conditions at the exam center were appalling, creating an environment that was not conducive to focus or success. The examination hall was extremely humid, lacking proper ventilation and adequate fans. These adverse conditions distracted his concentration and undoubtedly affected his performance.

Moreover, he encountered unexpected hurdles such as biometric verification procedures that were time-consuming and disruptive. The introduction of Variable Based Questions (VBQs) was unexpected and consumed an unfair amount of time due to their complexity and length. These factors combined made it nearly impossible for him to perform to the best of his abilities and fairly demonstrate his knowledge and skills.

The FMGE is a critical step for medical graduates, and any flaws or oversights in its administration can have major and lasting consequences on their future careers. Every candidate deserves a fair chance to succeed, assessed in an environment that measures their capabilities rather than testing their endurance against preventable logistical issues.

This is not just my son's fight but a collective demand for justice for all candidates who have faced similar challenges. We urge the examination authorities to acknowledge these valid concerns and take immediate action to rectify them. This can include revisiting and moderating the evaluation of affected candidates, and most importantly, ensuring that future examinations are conducted in conditions that are fair, transparent, and conducive to testing intellectual merit rather than resilience to adverse testing environments.

We call upon the responsible authorities to conduct a thorough review of the FMGE procedures and conditions, implement necessary reforms, and provide compensation or a re-examination option for those adversely affected by these circumstances. We seek justice, fairness, and a commitment to ensuring that all candidates are provided an equal playing field.

Join us in demanding justice and fairness for FMGE candidates. Please sign this petition to make our voices heard and bring about necessary change in the examination process.
