Demand Justice for Bernabe “Kiko” Rodriguez

Demand Justice for Bernabe “Kiko” Rodriguez
The Issue
Bernabe Rodriguez, affectionately known as "Kiko," was one of the most non-violent and non-confrontational individuals many of us ever knew. Tragically, on February 19, 2025, Kiko was fatally shot in Lighthouse Point, Florida. It has been 81 days since his death, and the investigation remains unresolved. As a community, we are left grappling with unanswered questions and a profound sense of injustice over the loss of a beloved friend and neighbor.
Kiko, a beacon of peace in Delray Beach, FL, had previously filed a complaint against Shelbie Hawk for threatening behavior, yet no substantive action was taken by the authorities to disarm her or mitigate the escalating threats. If decisive steps had been taken, such as removing her access to firearms, perhaps this tragedy could have been prevented. Now, we stand at a critical juncture demanding clarity, accountability, and justice for Kiko.
The Broward Sheriff's Office continues its investigation, promising to forward their findings to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office once completed. Despite these assurances, we are still waiting for charges to be filed, and for those responsible to face justice. The delay is not only a disservice to Kiko’s memory but also a lingering threat to community safety.
We urge the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the Broward County State Attorney’s Office to expedite their processes and bring those culpable to justice. Delray Beach cannot stand idly by while fears go unaddressed and guns remain in the hands of those who pose a threat.
Join us in our call for transparency and action. We demand that the investigation into Kiko’s death be handled with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. Contact the Broward State Attorney’s Office at (954) 831-6955 or stateattorney@broward.org, and the Broward Sheriff's Office at (954) 831-8900, to voice your concerns and demand answers.
Sign this petition to stand in solidarity with Kiko’s family and friends, and to ensure a safer, more just community for all.
