On January 6th, 2024, Aquazia Kennedy, a 19-year-old teenager who was eight months pregnant, was tragically struck and killed by an off-duty police officer ALBAN KARANFILI in Dallas, Texas in negligence of using the widely used 15-second rule. This heartbreaking incident didn't just take away a young teenager’s  life; it has also left her newborn daughter suffering from brain issues due to lack of oxygen and a broken leg. The authorities' handling of this case has been questionable at best. They informed the family about Aquazia's death two hours after she had been pronounced dead by the doctors.

This petition is deeply personal to me as Aquazia was like one of my own children. Her untimely death is not just a loss for her family but also for her daughter who will never get to meet her mother.

We are seeking justice for Aquazia and accountability from the Dallas Police Department. We demand a thorough investigation into this incident and appropriate action against those responsible. We also call on lawmakers to implement stricter regulations regarding off-duty police conduct and transparency in reporting such incidents.

Aquazia's story is unfortunately not unique; every year, countless lives are lost due to police misconduct or negligence. It's time we put an end to these tragedies.
