Demand Justice for Andrew ReShaun Williams: Murder, Not Manslaughter
The Issue
On November 15, 2021; My son, Andrew ReShaun Williams, was tragically shot in his own home during a dispute with his girlfriend. The perpetrator, Robert Michael Frazier, entered my son's home armed with a 9mm gun and took my son's life out of fear. He claimed he was only trying to "slow him down," but knowingly used deadly force against an unarmed man. My grandchildren witnessed this horrific act. Prior to the shooting Robert Frazier had threatened to shoot Andrew. So why wasn't this brought up in court? There is so many things not mentioned in court. our family is outraged and feel that this is an injustice. We are also devastated and have PTSD (due to the fact that anyone can come in our home, as they did Andrew) because of the justice system. I have one thing to ask you, "What if he had been your son?" Would it be the same verdict? Would it be taken so lightly?
Despite the clear intent and deadly outcome of Frazier's actions, the jurors of Refugio County deliberated for less than 24 hours before sentencing him to manslaughter which has a maximum sentence of (20 years) rather than murder. This is not justice for Andrew or our family. The killer got less time than what my son lived on this earth. There wasn't anything done properly for Andrew. A murder trial in 2 days One witness didn't even show up the talk on Andrew's behalf. According to Christopher Williams he was being threatened.
In the United States alone, nearly 40% of all murders go unsolved each year (source: FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Program). This statistic becomes even more alarming when we consider cases like Andrew's where the murderer is known but not adequately punished due to misclassification of their crime.
We must demand that our justice system properly recognizes and punishes these acts as what they truly are - murder. By doing so we can ensure that victims like Andrew receive the justice they deserve and send a clear message that such violent actions will not be tolerated or minimized.
Please sign this petition to demand that Robert Michael Frazier's charge be upgraded from manslaughter to murder in honor of my son Andrew ReShaun Williams' memory and for all others victims who have suffered similar injustices.
