Demand justice for Alex Creech
The Issue
On September 14, 2023, a brilliant, adventurous light was extinguished far too soon. This petition is entirely about Jerry Alexander "Alex" Creech : who he was, the vibrant life that was stolen from him, and our urgent fight to ensure justice is served.
Alex was, without question, the biggest adventurer you could ever hope to meet. At just 20 years old, his spirit was boundless and full of life:
Whether he was on a skateboard, tearing up asphalt on a motorcycle, or immersed in car culture, Alex felt most alive when he was moving.
The lake was his home, it was where he loved to be, and scuba diving was his gateway to another world. He loved being on the water and exploring anytime he got the chance.
Alex was remarkably smart and bright. He was a phenomenal mechanic whose talent went far beyond cars and bikes. If something was broken, whether it had parts, wires, or a mechanical puzzle, Alex had the patience, skill, and intelligence to bring it back to life.
He loved cracking open an ice-cold Mountain Dew, enjoying his favorite oatmeal pies, and showing a deep, gentle compassion for animals and every living creature he crossed paths with.
Above all else, Alex was fiercely kind. He left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He deserved a lifetime of more lakes, more motorcycles, more adventures and more family.
On September 14, 2023, all of that was violently ripped away by the hands of Harry DeAndre McDermott, a person with a previous, extensive record of harming others. A man with a history of violence and destruction took a life of someone whom was the exact opposite he was pure light, & fleeing the scene to protect himself and leaving Alex behind lifeless in the street.
Yet, recently the fight for Alex has hit a devastating wall: Harry is currently being deemed "incompetent to stand trial."
I want to give hope to the family, being deemed "incompetent" does not mean he is found not guilty, nor does it mean he walks away free. But right now, it is being used as a shield to stall, hide, and avoid accountability.
What we ask from you :
We refuse to let a violent individual with a history of harming others slip through the cracks of the legal system. We are demanding:
1. A Second, Independent Competency Evaluation: We are calling on the prosecution to contest this ruling and push for a thorough, independent psychological evaluation.
2. Keep the Case Open and Active: This case cannot be quietly buried or dismissed. We demand full transparency and accountability.
3. The Maximum Sentence: When competency is restored and he faces a trial, we demand the absolute maximum sentence. A man with his track record of violence is a permanent threat to everyone around him and belongs behind bars for the rest of his natural life.
Alex cannot speak for himself anymore, so it is up to us to be his voice. Please sign and share this petition.
