Demand Justice for a Wrongful Conviction in Chicago, IL

Demand Justice for a Wrongful Conviction in Chicago, IL
The Issue
I, Lovell Boyd was wrongfully convicted at the age of 20 in Chicago, IL. Despite the absence of DNA evidence or gunshot residue linking me to the crime, I was convicted based on hearsay. For 21 years now, I have been residing in Menard Correctional Center in Chester, IL, tirelessly appealing this decision and seeking a chance for re-sentencing or to have my case overturned.
During these long years of incarceration, I've suffered personal losses - my grandmother passed away; my cousin is no more; and my best friend who stood by me through this entire journey has also left us. These losses only add to the pain caused by an unjust system that failed me two decades ago.
My mother and my family have been on my side through my journey to seek justice. The daily reminder of my mother's heartache resonates with me. I'm currently 41 years old and I'm continuing my fight everyday for my freedom. There are a lot of other people that are incarcerated with me but, none of our voices are being heard. If I am granted freedom I plan to start a cause for the many people who are dealing with the same hardships as well as starting a fund for those who can't get legal representation. The U.S Department of Justice reports that over 10% of state prisoners are serving life sentences (Source: DOJ). Among them are potentially hundreds like myself who were wrongfully accused and denied justice. This is not just about one person's fight against an unjust conviction but also about shedding light on systemic flaws that need urgent rectification.
By signing this petition you're not just supporting one individual's quest for justice but contributing towards a larger movement against wrongful convictions. We urge you to sign this petition and demand justice for all those wrongfully incarcerated individuals whose voices need to be heard.
