The Issue

As the guardian of the siblings of an innocent 8-year-old girl who met a tragic and brutal end, I feel the depth of this loss acutely and personally. It's a pain that no family should ever have to endure. This little girl was not only robbed of her future but was subjected to unimaginable horrors in her last moments.

Despite the clear signs of physical abuse and the fact she was in sepsis, which further points to prolonged suffering, the Crown prosecutor's office has shockingly offered a plea deal to her murderer—manslaughter with only an eight-year sentence. How can such an insufficient punishment be considered justice for a life viciously cut short?

This little girl was beaten to death, left alone in her agony, and callously disposed of like her life meant nothing. These actions are nothing short of murder and should be punished as such. A mere eight years is an affront to her memory and an insult to her loved ones who mourn her. If we allow this plea deal to stand, it sends a message that the lives of our children can be negotiated away in court.

We must urge the Attorney General who is the minister of Justice to review this plea bargain that has been offered to this child killer. Instead of allowing this woman a lenient sentence, she should serve a life sentence that reflects the gravity of her heinous crime. She does not deserve any empathy or understanding. This was not manslaughter it was ongoing abuse that led to death.

Demand that justice be served not just for the little girl who deserved so much more, as well for her family who continue to live with this tragedy every day. By holding her killer accountable, we affirm the value of each child's life and take a stand against the violence that shatters families.

Sign this petition to demand a sentence that reflects the monstrous of her actions for the woman responsible for this unforgivable loss. Together, we can ensure that justice is not just a word, but a reality for this brave little girl and her family. Sign now to make our voices heard.
