The Issue

Five dogs were found without food or water inside a condemned home on Mill Street in Corinth, New York. On June 13, 2026, the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office responded to the property for a welfare check and discovered the animals in a state of neglect. Both residents — Jasmine Squilla and Fatemeh Safaie-Mojarad — were arrested and charged with five counts each of animal cruelty, including overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals, and failing to provide proper sustenance.

The dogs have since been seized and brought to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter. That's a good first step — but it's not enough. These animals deserve more than just a roof over their heads. They need proper veterinary care, rehabilitation, and, when they're ready, loving permanent homes.

We're calling on the Saratoga County Animal Shelter and local officials to commit publicly to the following: ensure all five dogs receive full veterinary evaluations, provide any necessary treatment and behavioral support, and prioritize responsible rehoming for each animal. We also urge the Corinth Town Court to take these charges seriously and impose consequences that reflect the severity of what these animals endured.

Neglect is not a minor offense. These dogs had no voice and no way out — they depended entirely on the people who failed them. The community stepped up to remove them from danger. Now the system needs to follow through.

Sign this petition to demand full accountability and a safe future for the five dogs rescued from Mill Street.
