Our road is in terrible condition, a constant source of inconvenience and frustration for us residents. It feels like Jones County is incessantly working on it, but to no tangible improvement. We, the residents of this county, are living witnesses to constant dust, potholes, and the incessant noise from frequent construction. This isn't just about the inconvenience; it's about broken promise. Jones County authorities previously pledged to fix this issue, a commitment they have not honored properly.

Poor road conditions pose numerous challenges including damage to vehicles and potential accidents. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, poor road conditions contribute to about 1/3 of all traffic fatalities. Also, bad roads cost motorists as much as $67 billion a year in repairs, as reported by The American Society of Civil Engineers.

Locally, in Jones County, repairs have become a revolving cycle of empty assurances. It is high time the county holds true to their initial pledge of providing good quality, passable roads, as they play an integral part in our day-to-day lives.
