Demand Investigation into Alleged Corruption within Port Arthur City Council and Economic Development Center

The Issue

As concerned citizens of Port Arthur, we have witnessed the detrimental effects of alleged corruption within our City Council and Economic Development center. This issue is deeply personal to us, as it directly impacts the integrity of our local government and its accountability to its citizens.

Allegations of corruption undermine trust in our local institutions, hampering their ability to serve us effectively. It's essential that these allegations are thoroughly investigated by the District Attorney's office, and/or referred to another agency. We believe that a comprehensive investigation will not only address current concerns but also deter future instances of misconduct.

Corruption is a serious issue that affects cities across the United States. According to Transparency International, corruption costs taxpayers approximately $1.5 trillion annually (Transparency International). In Port Arthur specifically, these allegations have caused significant distress among residents who deserve transparency from their elected officials.

We are calling on the District Attorney's office to launch an immediate investigation into these allegations against Port Arthur City Council and Economic Development center.

  1. Misappropriation of district street bond money being moved to the beautification of Woolworth Blvd.
  2. Violations of the Open Meetings Act by Mayor Bartie.
  3. Abuse of Official Capacity by Mayor Bartie
  4. Various violations of procedure inside the EDC department.
  5. civil Rights violations against blind citizens and other disabled citizens by the Transit department.
  6. Abuse of the travel policy by council members.
  7. Federal R.I.C.O. Violations with current/former council members and staff
  8. Any other violations of law not stated here.

By signing this petition, you're standing up against corruption and demanding accountability from our local government officials. Please sign this petition today; let's make sure our voices are heard loud and clear!
