The Issue
My family and I are regular travellers who have experienced first-hand the deceitful practices of Spirit Airlines. We were not only lied to, but also manipulated, leading to misplaced luggage and loss of work. Sadly, we found our experience was not an isolated incident, but rather a daunting pattern of customer mistreatment.
Spirit Airlines has consistently received low ratings from customers and was ranked the sixth worst airline in the world in 2020, according to Business Insider. This low ranking is due to regular issues with baggage handling, frequent delays, and poor customer service. Operating out of Indianapolis International Airport, Spirit Airlines' reprehensible practices impact many Hoosiers like myself.
Yet, Indianapolis International Airport - whose mission should ultimately be to provide high quality service to its travellers - continues to allow Spirit Airlines to operate within their facilities, despite their ongoing history of poor customer treatment.
Decisive action needs to be taken. We call on the Indianapolis International Airport Authority to cease allowing Spirit Airlines to operate out of their facility. It is only through taking such action that we can ensure no more travelers from our community experience the violation of trust we and many others have endured.
