For the residents of Birch Court, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, the state of our homes and the building is unacceptable. We faithfully pay our bills on time, yet are forced to endure living conditions that are not only uncomfortable but unsafe. Myself and other residents do not deserve to live like this. Despite an improvement notice being served to the management, nothing has been done within the given time frame to address these pressing issues. 

Our homes are plagued by mould, which poses serious health risks such as respiratory issues, particularly concerning for families with young children and the elderly. The lifts, vital for those of us living on higher floors and those with mobility issues, are constantly out of order, leaving us stranded or limited in our daily activities. Water leaks throughout the building threaten our belongings and add to the deterioration of the structure itself, a potential hazard that cannot be ignored.

There is a dire need for regular and effective maintenance, but this is grossly neglected. As residents, we have reported these issues repeatedly, yet our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. It's time for action. We are not asking for luxury, just the basic standards of living that everyone deserves.

We need the local council and property management to take immediate and appropriate steps to rectify these conditions. This includes thorough and regular inspections, addressing the mould problem, fixing the lifts permanently, and ensuring all maintenance work is carried out without further delay.
