The rapid expansion of Milford with the approval of Cypress Hall's next phases has hit our community like a shockwave. The planning commission's decision was made with very little consideration to the increasing pressures these developments will bring. They justified their approval based on a decision made back in 2022, without accounting for the stark changes in our community and environment over the years since then. This kind of oversight is simply unacceptable.

As a lifelong resident, I have seen firsthand the transformation of Milford from a tight-knit community surrounded by sprawling farmlands to a hot spot for high-cost housing developments that many of us cannot afford. The commission members’ neglect to acknowledge the drastic growth rate between 2022 and 2025 betrays an indifference to the real needs and concerns of Milford residents.

The essence of Milford is under threat. Our farmlands are disappearing, replaced by developments that fragment our community fabric and inflate housing prices. The people who call this town home are being squeezed out by developments that cater elsewhere.

It is obvious now that a change in leadership is necessary for the future of Milford. We need a planning commission that listens to its residents and considers the profound impacts of urban development. The current commission has proved itself unable or unwilling to adapt and prioritize the long-term well-being of Milford over unchecked development.

We call upon our fellow residents and policymakers to stand with us and demand the immediate removal of the current planning commission members in Milford, Delaware. This is a crucial step in protecting our heritage and ensuring future decisions reflect the best interests of our entire community.
