Demand Immediate Condemnation of the Contaminative Homestead Properties

Demand Immediate Condemnation of the Contaminative Homestead Properties
The Issue
As a concerned parent and Trustee of the Board for our local school district, I've witnessed first-hand the damaging impact of groundwater contamination caused by the Homestead Properties owned by Gary R Weitz and the Robette R Weitz Living Trust in Park City, MT. This issue isn't just personal, it affects our entire community.
The school district, the exact place where my children spend a large part of their day learning and growing, had to abandon their well due to the contamination stemming from these properties. Other local property owners are not exempt from this crisis either, they too have borne the brunt of this environmental disregard. Our town's potential for clean, safe drinking water is at serious risk.
Our Department of Environmental Quality is trusted to safeguard our environment and by extension, our health. Yet, the Homestead Properties continue to operate, thereby exacerbating the state of our groundwater quality. Addressing this exigent matter means more than just securing our present; it is about safeguarding our future. Gary Weitz continues to sign new leases with tenants even with a judgement in place restricting him from doing so and he continues to dump sewage into the ground.
We implore the Department of Environmental Quality to uphold its mandate. The immediate condemnation and remediation of the Homestead Properties is not just necessary; it is a moral obligation to the residents affected by this issue. Let clean water flow again in our homes, in our schools, in our community. Stand by us, for immediate action is required to prevent further irreversible impact to our water and health. It's time to stop the contamination.
Sign this petition now. Let our call for environmental justice reverberate where it matters. It's time for a change.
