On Sunday, April 6th, at 2:30 am, my boyfriend Colby Scheffler tragically lost his life after leaving The Willow Bar. He was in the same vicinity with people who had firearms and were indulging in illegal activities within the establishment. This is just one display of the many violations taking place at The Willow bar where not only underage people are served alcohol, but also the bar reportedly allows substance misuse and the presence of dangerous firearms within its premises. According to a CDC report, establishments that facilitate underage drinking can contribute to an increased risk of homicides, suicides, and other unintentional injuries. The same report sheds light on how illegal substances and firearms in social establishments can propagate violent tendencies. Given that The Willow bar has been identified by insiders as such a premise on more than one occasion, immediate action is necessary. We demand that The Willow Bar be shut down for its role in these reprehensible events and that all involved parties, including the administration, be held accountable for their actions.
