Demand Immediate Action to Remove Homeless Encampments & Enhanced Safety Measures

Demand Immediate Action to Remove Homeless Encampments & Enhanced Safety Measures
The Issue
We, as concerned residents of Las Vegas, NV, are facing a significant challenge that affects the safety and cleanliness of our neighborhood. Multiple homeless encampments have set up in and around our area, posing various severe concerns.
Our tax-paying status gives us the right to request NDOT to take immediate action and address this issue head-on.
Fire Hazards: Many of the individuals living in these encampments use small stoves to cook food. This practice presents a substantial risk of fire, especially given the proximity of these encampments to trees and residential homes. We are deeply worried about the potential for fires that could endanger our homes and families.
Health and Safety Risks: The presence of these encampments has led to an increase in litter and unsanitary conditions, which negatively impacts the health and safety of our community.
Impact on Students: With the school year recently beginning, the encampments have noticeably reduced the foot traffic of students who walk to school. This decrease in foot traffic raises concerns about student safety and the overall well-being of our children.
We are making an urgent call for:
1) Comprehensive Cleanup: Thoroughly clean up areas affected by these encampments, including the removal of waste, debris, and hazardous materials to restore our neighborhood's cleanliness.
2) Enhanced Safety Measures: Implement initiatives that significantly reduce fire hazards and further ensure our homes and families' protection against potential risks associated.
We demand effective solutions to deal with this pressing issue. Offering affordable housing for the individuals who are in need is a great way to start and not only putting a bandaid on the problem.
Multiple requests have been to NDOT and Code enforcement yet 4 months later we have not seen a change.
By signing this petition, we are rallying together to protect our neighborhood. Let's take this stand for the betterment of our community. Please sign this petition and press for the immediate action we need.
