Demand HUD and SSD Classify Homelessness as a Disability and Extend Necessary Benefits

The Issue

As an individual who deeply believes in fighting for the adequate treatment of those who are most vulnerable in our society, I am deeply saddened by the negligence shown towards the homeless, seniors, and disabled individuals. These issues are personal to me. The management and nurturing of our society is determined by the quality of care we offer to our most vulnerable - a quality that currently, is not up to par.

Senior and disabled abuse, homelessness, and the care of runaways and animal victims must be handled as diligently as care arrangements for children. These matters concern not just our legal system, but also our spiritual beliefs and environment. However, currently, this standard of care is not met, leading to immeasurable suffering.

In the United States alone, there are over 500,000 people on any given night who have no place to call home. We're asking for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and  (SSD) by vote, to take action, to recognize all homeless individuals as disabled, and extend the necessary benefits to them, assisting in their journey towards stability.

While housing designations vary across different legal jurisdictions within the U.S., homelessness is not currently recognized as a disability by HUD, leading to many homeless individuals not receiving the support they are entitled to under the Americans with Disabilities Act. This is an injustice that needs to be rectified.

Let's urge ourselves to be good to ourselves, insist HUD and SSD to change their policy's and include homelessness as a disability. The first step in problem-solving is to recognize there is one. I kindly ask you to sign this petition and join me in demanding justice and support for the homeless.
