As an ardent football fan who bleeds for my team every matchday, I am deeply disheartened and disillusioned by what is happening to our beautiful game. Since 2019, we've witnessed a steady decline in fair play within the Premier League, largely attributed to the misuse and mismanagement of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system. This problem has been exacerbated by Howard Webb's involvement with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), a body that has been notoriously mired in controversy and decisions that seemingly favour elite clubs.

VAR was introduced to bring clarity and fairness to the game, yet over the past few years, it has instead been a source of constant frustration and anger for fans across the globe. Bad decision after bad decision has entrenched a narrative where money and influence appear to overshadow the fair play we so dearly cherish. With refereeing decisions consistently benefiting the wealthiest clubs, many fans are left believing that capitalism is steering the ship of a once-principled sport.
