Like many in our community, my electronics were irreparably damaged due to consistent, brief power outages, known locally as "blinks." These "blinks" occur approximately once a month and result in our power shutting off for about 5 seconds, then coming back on - a sequence proven disastrous for electric appliances. Such events are not confined to my household; most of my neighbors' electrical items were similarly affected. This phenomenon's frequency and aftermath indicate that Horry Electric Cooperative, our local utility provider, has failed to maintain a stable electricity supply.

According to the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI), even brief power outages, or 'surges', can cause severe damage to household appliances, sometimes leading to their complete failure (ESFI, 2016). Households across our community face the financial burden of replacing these essential items, a responsibility we believe lies with Horry Electric. It is imperative for Horry Electric to take full accountability for the damages incurred due to their disruption in electricity supply and offer fair compensation.
