The Issue

As a parent in Hall County, Georgia, my primary concern is the safety and well-being of not only my own children but also every child in our community. Recent revelations about the ownership of Lifetouch have raised significant concerns. Lifetouch, a prominent photography company used by many schools for picture days, is owned by Apollo Global Management. One of the firm's co-founders, Leon Black, has been linked to Jeffrey Epstein, a figure notorious for his criminal activities involving minors.

In light of these associations, it is unsettling to think that a company shrouded in connections to such a scandalous network has unhindered access to our childrens identities, as well as the communities they reside. Schools serve as a sanctuary for education and growth, and they should be safe spaces, free from any unconscious affiliations to questionable enterprises. Given these associations, the continued use of Lifetouch does not align with the values of transparency and safety that we expect from our educational institutions.

We propose a solution that not only ensures the security of our students but also promotes local businesses. By partnering with local photography businesses for school picture days, our schools can:

1. Ensure that we are supporting our community's economy by investing in local talent.
2. Strengthen ties between schools and local businesses, fostering a sense of community.
3. Uphold the values of accountability and trust within our educational environment by refraining from using companies with worrying affiliations.

It is crucial that we act swiftly to make this transition. By choosing local photography businesses, we are taking proactive steps to protect our children and uphold the integrity of our schools.

I urge all parents, teachers, and community members in Hall County and Gainesville City, Georgia, to support this petition. Sign to demand that our local schools discontinue the use of Lifetouch and begin supporting local photography businesses for all school picture activities. Together, we can make a stand for the safety and well-being of our children and build a stronger, more connected community.
