Demand Google to Revise Their Search Algorithm Updates Favoring Larger Sites
The Issue
I am one of many who have been personally affected by the changes in Google's search algorithm since August 2023. These updates have disproportionately favored larger publishers such as Reddit and Forbes, while smaller publishers struggle to stay afloat. The bias towards these big players has led to a decrease in the diversity and quality of content available on the web, as they often prioritize monetary gain over providing useful information.

The impact of these updates is not just theoretical - it has real-world consequences. Many small businesses that relied on their online presence for survival have had to shut down due to decreased visibility and traffic, with no known cases of recovery so far. This is not only detrimental for business owners but also for consumers who are now left with fewer options and less valuable content.
Google's mission statement promises "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." However, their recent actions seem contrary to this promise. By favoring larger sites, they are limiting access to a wide range of information sources that could be beneficial for users worldwide.
We urge Google not only to reverse these harmful updates but also commit themselves again towards creating an unbiased platform where all publishers can compete fairly based on the quality of their content rather than their size or financial capabilities.
Please sign this petition if you believe in a fairer internet where everyone has an equal chance at success regardless of their size or resources.
