The issue

Having lived and worked in the Southern Moreton Bay Islands community for years, I, like many others, have witnessed firsthand the profound impact that the Running Wild program has had on youth and families alike.

Running Wild has been a pillar of support for this community for over a decade. In particular, the Community Dinner Program, which offers a hot meal and a chance to connect for just $5, has become essential to more than 50 families who rely on it. It transcends socio-economic barriers, offering dignity, nourishment, and the simple pleasure of good company. Many residents in our community live below the poverty line, making this program not just beneficial but absolutely crucial.

This initiative has been running for over a year, and demand has continued to grow. It's not just about food—it's about forging connections and providing a platform for other essential community organizations to offer additional support. So the dinner becomes not only a meal but a source of hope and community resilience.

However, to continue to meet the rising demand, Running Wild urgently needs additional funding. This isn't just about keeping a program alive; it's about sustaining a vital lifeline for families who depend on it. The program’s sustainability can be secured through adequate funding which will allow it to support even more families and ensure no one in our community goes hungry.

We urge local authorities, businesses, and residents to recognize the value and impact of the Running Wild's Community Dinner Program and commit to funding this life-changing initiative.

Sign this petition to call for immediate action and help us keep this indispensable program running. Your support can make all the difference in continuing to feed and connect our community.
