Demand Full Oversight of Foreign Involvement in the Charlie Kirk Assassination
Demand Full Oversight of Foreign Involvement in the Charlie Kirk Assassination
The Issue
We, the undersigned, call on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to exercise their oversight authority and obtain the complete record of the National Counterterrorism Center’s review of potential foreign involvement in the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
In March 2026, former NCTC Director Joe Kent publicly stated that his office identified additional leads related to a possible foreign nexus in the case, that further work remained to be done, and that his team was directed to stop investigating and turn the matter over to Utah state authorities. These statements raise serious questions about whether all relevant intelligence leads were fully pursued.
The American people deserve to know:
• What specific foreign-related leads NCTC identified
• Why the review was halted
• Whether those leads were ever fully investigated by any agency
• What materials and interagency communications exist regarding that decision
We respectfully request that the committees:
1. Immediately request and obtain from ODNI/NCTC all records, lead lists, analytical products, and interagency communications related to the foreign-nexus review of the Charlie Kirk assassination.
2. If voluntary production is incomplete or refused, issue formal subpoenas to compel production of those materials.
3. Provide a classified briefing to committee members on the findings, followed by a public summary of what can be disclosed without compromising sources and methods.
4. Determine whether any unresolved leads require further investigation by the appropriate agencies.
This is not a request for a predetermined conclusion. It is a request for transparency and completion of the investigative process on a matter of national importance. High-profile political assassinations demand thorough scrutiny of every credible lead, including those involving potential foreign involvement.
We urge the committees to act without delay.
