My wife, a disabled individual, relies on her Personal Independent Payment to fund her transportation needs. Her vehicle of choice was a Ford Fiesta with an 1.0 litre Eco Boost engine. However, since May 2023 and after 11 months of ownership, she has been unable to use the car due to the degradation of the wet belt in these engines. Our car hadn't missed one of Fords specified service intervals and was serviced at a main Ford dealership.This is not just our personal struggle; it's an issue affecting many other owners who have been left out of pocket due to this poor design.

Ford has already acknowledged this problem in the USA and initiated recalls after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) deemed it a safety issue. Yet, despite similar circumstances and complaints here in Britain, our Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) remains silent.

It's time for Ford UK to take responsibility for their poorly designed Eco Boost engines with wet belts. We demand that they initiate recalls and reimburse affected owners who have had to bear unnecessary costs due to this design flaw.
