The Issue
Football is more than a game for many of us in Haiti; it's a unifying force, an outlet for our passion and pride in our nation. I have always dreamed of seeing Haiti shine on the world stage, like so many of my fellow Haitians. We all believe that our nation's football team has the potential to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, and we have the talent to make this dream a reality. Unfortunately, there is a disconnect between the potential of our players and the current management practices of the Fédération Haïtienne de Football (FHF).
Transparency, fairness, and communication are essential for effective team management. Yet, the FHF seems to lack in these critical areas. How players are selected, how fans are engaged, and how games are managed remain shrouded in ambiguity, affecting the overall morale and unity of the team.
We call on the FHF to commit to:
1. **Transparent and Timely Communication
A successful football culture is built on trust, engagement, and loyalty. Fans across the globe want to support the team-but without communication from the federation, that connection breaks down. Regular updates regarding call-ups, match schedules, player eligibility, and long-term plans would strengthen public trust and national pride. With better communication, more fans will show up to games, buy jerseys, and proudly support the team-win or lose.
2. ** Fair and Strategic Player Selection
Talented players like Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Wilson Isidor, Josué Casimir, Jayro Jean, and Derrick Etienne deserve fair consideration. These players, whether in Europe or local leagues, represent the future of Haitian football. Continued exclusions without explanation leave fans confused and disheartened.
3. **Real Home Games in Diaspora-Friendly Cities
Host matches in cities with large Haitian communities-Miami, Atlanta, New York, Boston, or Montreal-to maximize home-field advantage. Our people are ready to show up in numbers when given the chance. This is crucial to Haiti’s run in the next round of the World Cup qualifiers.
Transparency and effective leadership can transform our national team, bringing Haiti's talents to the forefront with pride and determination. We urge the FHF to adopt these changes so that, together, we can envision and work toward a future where Haiti competes on the global football stage.
Stand with me- my fellow supporters in demanding accountability from the Fédération Haïtienne de Football. Let us unite to push for changes that will ensure Haiti's rightful place in the world of football. Sign this petition and help make the dream of seeing Haiti in the 2026 World Cup a reality.
