This petition emerges from genuine concern and disappointment in our local governance. As residents, we have come to realise that our ward councillor, Geraldine "Gerry" Gordon of Ward Council 67, Sub Council 18, is tragically apathetic towards the tremendous challenges we face as a community.

Despite a surge in violent crimes, with innocent residents falling victim routinely, Councillor Gordon remains silent. This eerie silence echoes through our streets, sowing seeds of fear and distress amongst us. Our pleas for assistance and our cries for justice seemingly fall on deaf ears under her leadership.

This trend cannot and should not continue.

South Africa's crime rate is commonly known to be one of the highest across the globe. More specifically, the Western Cape province, where Lotus River is located, has been reported to show the highest number of murders in the country, with numbers continuing to rise. Without decisive action and a dedicated leadership in our community, we fear these numbers will only increase.

The time has come to seek a change in leadership; to bring in a ward councillor who is as invested in our safety and prosperity as we are. We implore the relevant authorities to heed our calls, take note of our plight, and proceed with the removal of Councillor Geraldine "Gerry" Gordon from her role in Ward Council 67, Sub Council 18.

This is a matter of urgency, importance, and above all, a matter of life and death. We need your signatures to effect the change we so desperately need for our beloved community.
