Jonathan Toca, a man not just recognized by his name, but by his noble character, our fellow husband, son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, mechanic, electrician, handyman etc. has been serving time in a jail cell at Cois M Byrd Detention Center since 03/05/2024. Acquaintances and eyewitness accounts depict a man that stands out for his respect, his leadership, his caring nature, and his responsibility. But today, Jonathan finds himself confined witnessing as hundreds of violent criminals are gaining their freedom, while he remains bound by chains.  Jonathan’s detention is cruel and unwarranted, considering his significant personality transformation and his unfortunate heart failure diagnosis.

Since he came to understand the severity of his health condition, Jonathan has turned his life around. Despite being incarcerated, he has proven that people can change indefinitely for the better. His comrades and the jail staff can more than likely support this claim, bearing first-hand witness to how he adheres to the rules, and promotes a positive change among the criminal population.

Today, we raise our voices to highlight this issue that has affected not only Jonathan but all those who have seen the spark in him and believes in his innocence. It is a painful ordeal for us to endure as we see a symbol of change and hope languishing in confinement. The time has come to address the situation justly.

Jonathan Toca is not a person who should be kept within prison walls but should walk free, putting his past behind and his future ahead. He is a man who, if released, will embody the essence of rehabilitation and not return to jail or prison as an inmate but rather as a mentor, an example. He has shown it's feasible to change, despite the direst of circumstances.

We call upon the judiciary, the authorities, the conscious citizens, family, and friends, to visit/revisit Jonathan's case, consider his drastic transformation, and let justice serve its true meaning. Join us in our fight to bring back our dear husband, son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend, our very much needed handy man,  whose only crime at present seems to be his past, and the only pain he is causing anyone is due to the open affairs he was forced to leave behind unfinished, including a leaking roof, a leaking floor, a remodeled bathroom, 2 cars urging his assistance immediately .Please sign this petition and support our cause in urging for Jonathan's release.
