Hello Dr. Olszewski,

My name is Idil Tuncali and I grew up in Cockeysville, MD. My family has lived in their house in the Hunt Valley neighborhood for over 20 years. My younger siblings both attended Jacksonville Elementary School, Cockeysville Middle School and Dulaney High School. Throughout the years, we have seen new storefronts open here and there along York Rd. A couple of years ago, I was visiting home and couldn’t believe my eyes - “GUNS” A huge new sign read about a mile from my house. Alright, I thought. Well this is kind of weird! But I didn’t think much more of it. Until this week.

The vicious attack on the Uvalde elementary school will hopefully lead to many changes in this country. In the wake of this tragic event, I can’t help but think of the danger in having a gun store so close to a school. Not to mention how ironic and disturbing many parents in the neighborhood might find it. 

The gun store Gun Bunker South, located at 10916 York Rd, Cockeysville, MD 21030 is within 3.5 miles of the following schools:

Ashland Preschool Center (0.9 miles)

Warren Elementary School (2.7 miles)

Cockeysville Middle School (1.5 miles)

St. Joseph School Cockeysville (1.8 miles)

Dulaney High School (3.2 miles)

Pot Spring Elementary School (3.4 miles)

This petition is a demand for the Gun Bunker South store to take down their ostentatious “GUNS” sign (see picture). This is not the kind of message we want to send to any incoming parents, students or neighbors of Cockeysville.
