The issue
Dear Community Members,
We, the Bentleigh community, are uniting to address a significant safety concern at the intersection of Tucker Road and Patterson Road during peak hours, with a particular focus on the safety of our children, especially those attending Tucker Road Bentleigh Primary School.
During peak hours, the Tucker Road and Patterson Road intersection becomes a potential hazard due to increased traffic flow. This risk is exacerbated by the presence of bus stops and parked cars along major thoroughfares, leading to visibility challenges for both drivers and pedestrians.
Current conditions frequently compel drivers to make unsafe maneuvers, such as driving on the opposite side of the road to circumvent obstacles, thereby disrupting traffic flow. This hazardous situation poses an immediate risk of serious injuries or even fatalities, a situation we can no longer overlook.
Our children, in particular, merit a secure environment when traveling to and from school and participating in other activities. The existing challenges at this intersection unnecessarily expose them to danger during peak hours, necessitating our prompt action.
We implore the Glen Eira City Council to acknowledge the urgency of this issue and prioritise an upgrade at the Tucker Road and Patterson Road intersection. Enhancing visibility, optimizing traffic flow, and giving precedence to pedestrian safety are not only essential but pivotal in preventing accidents and preserving lives.
We invite you to join our collective call for immediate action to secure the safety of our community at the Tucker Road and Patterson Road intersection. Sign the online petition now and lend your voice to the cause.
Your prompt attention to this matter will bring us closer to safer streets for all. We eagerly await your positive response and anticipate collaborating effectively to promptly address these safety concerns.
Thank you.
