The Issue
We are aspirants deeply invested in the Hindi language, and it is concerning to witness a lack of future opportunities due to the current recruitment criteria set by the Manipur Public Service Commission for the Hindi Teachers Training College. The recent recruitment process for four Assistant Professors, referenced under the notification No. 7/5/2024-MPSC (DR), dated the 5th of December 2025, has vividly highlighted an oversight that could jeopardize the quality of Hindi education.
The education qualifications advertised fail to prioritize Hindi qualifications such as Hindi graduates, B.Ed in Hindi, or an M.A in Hindi. Instead, the recruitment process favors Social Science qualifications. This discrepancy directly undermines the essence of the institution where subjects are predominantly taught in Hindi. By overlooking candidates with proper Hindi qualifications, we are depriving students of the opportunity to learn from proficient educators who can provide in-depth knowledge and cultural understanding of the Hindi language.
It is crucial to address this oversight, as the intended educational outcomes are compromised if teachers are unable to teach in Hindi or lack advanced knowledge of the language and its pedagogy. Learning in one's chosen language boosts understanding and pride, which are critical for optimal learning experiences.
We urge the Manipur Public Service Commission to revisit and revise the recruitment qualifications for the Hindi Teachers Training College. Including specific requirements for Hindi degrees and language proficiency as mandatory criteria would ensure that the educators who join the college are best suited to uphold and advance the standard of Hindi education for the next generation.
