As many of you have witnessed in the video circling around with display of Professor Jon Baker's actions at the compass, this petition is to demand disciplinary action be taken towards the removal of Baker from VCU faculty.

As reported by multiple witnesses, Baker spit on the ground where "Free Gaza" statements were written in chalk. After aggressively berating the student writing in chalk, another student bravely stood up against Baker's hateful speech and bigotry, in which Baker told her to "shut up." This incident has raised serious concerns about safety and freedom of speech within VCU's campus community. 

Professor Baker, employed by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), has been identified as promoting views that are deeply troubling to many students and faculty members. His behavior is seen as an affront to the principles of free speech, creating an environment where individuals feel unsafe.

Virginia Commonwealth University prides itself on being a diverse and inclusive institution. However, this incident undermines those values and creates an atmosphere of fear rather than one of learning and growth.

In Richmond, VA, where VCU is located, we value respect for all viewpoints and uphold the right for everyone to express their opinions without fear or intimidation. It is crucial that we hold those who violate these principles accountable.
