There are hardly any bins at Southern Cross Station, which is already a problem. But the main issue that has myself and everybody else I know is that there are no bins on the platforms at Southern Cross, which causes people to litter. This is disgusting. I emailed a complaint a few months ago, and the reply stated that bins aren't needed, as there are bins outside of the platforms (again, very limited), and they have janitors that clean up the platforms every night. Just because people clean the platforms, Southern Cross Station should not be endorsing people to litter. Other major city stations, such as Flinders Street Station has many bins on each platform, as well as outside in the common area. The addition of bins would not even cost much, so there would not be any major financial loss from this. There is no reason to not add bins on the platforms, as everybody I know, as well as myself, has a problem with the lack of bins.
