Demand Fitbit to Restore Usability and Implement User-Requested Features in the App
The Issue
Fitbit, Inc. and Google LLC
As long-standing users of Fitbit products, we have appreciated the role these devices play in our daily health monitoring. However, the recent UI changes have severely impacted the usability and functionality of the Fitbit app, leading to widespread user dissatisfaction. We demand immediate action to restore the previous user interface's effectiveness and incorporate crucial improvements based on user feedback.
Specific Issues Addressed
1. **Complicated Navigation:** The new UI complicates what was once straightforward. Users now struggle with excessive tapping and navigating through multiple screens to access basic data such as sleep, steps, and heart rate, which was previously available at a glance.
2. **Sleep Tracking Failures:** The redesigned sleep tracker often fails to detect when users are asleep and incorrectly logs sleep sessions. This error has made the app unreliable for many who track their sleep for health reasons.
3. **Inconsistent Syncing and Tracking:** There have been numerous reports of devices not syncing correctly with computers and other devices, leading to gaps in data tracking and analysis.
4. **Poor Aesthetic and Functional Design:** Users have found the new design less visually appealing and more difficult to interact with. Important metrics are buried under layers of menus, and the absence of a dark mode makes the app difficult to use in low-light conditions.
5. **Feedback Ignored:** While Fitbit has promised updates, including a dark mode and layout improvements, the pace and effectiveness of these updates have been disappointing. The community feels that their feedback is largely ignored, leading to changes that do not reflect the users' needs or improve the app's functionality.
**Immediate Restoration of Previous UI Features:**
We demand the restoration of the earlier, more efficient, and user-friendly interface, specifically reverting to version 3.88 as listed on the Apple App Store. This version provided a seamless and intuitive user experience that was significantly altered in recent updates. We ask Fitbit and Google to recognize the functionality and familiarity that this version offered and restore it for all users.
**Conclusion:**
We urge Fitbit and Google to consider the voices of their dedicated user base and make necessary changes that enhance rather than diminish the user experience. We request transparency in your update roadmap and genuine engagement with your user community to build a product that truly supports our health and wellness goals.
