As a tax-paying citizen of Mission, Texas, I am deeply concerned about the lack of fiscal responsibility and transparency in our city's governance. We have recently witnessed the departure of former City Manager Randy Perez under questionable circumstances. This has raised serious concerns among us citizens about where our tax money is going and how it is being used.

We are petitioning to deny a severance for Mr. Perez until a thorough financial audit and investigation can be conducted to discover all responsible parties for the misuse of funds intended for the Mission Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). Our city deserves more than just words; we deserve actions that demonstrate commitment to transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.

It is essential that we hold our elected officials accountable for their actions. In 2019 alone, local governments in Texas collected over $60 billion in property taxes (source: Texas Comptroller's Office). It is only fair that we know how this money is being spent.

This issue affects every single one of us who pays taxes in Mission. We cannot stand by while our hard-earned money disappears without reasonable explanation or accountability.
