Demand fair treatment for students at Fareham Academy
Demand fair treatment for students at Fareham Academy
The Issue
Fareham Academy, our local educational institution, has recently instated a new headteacher who has implemented policies that many find excessively strict and punitive. One such policy requires students to be escorted by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to use the toilets during school hours. This not only infringes on the students' basic right to privacy and autonomy but also creates an unnecessary strain on both students and staff.
Additionally, over 100 students are being sent to isolation each day for uniform violations. This practice not only disrupts the learning process but also unfairly targets students, potentially impacting their academic performance and emotional well-being.
Research shows that positive reinforcement, rather than punitive measures, is more effective in promoting adherence to school rules and regulations. According to a study by the National Education Union, students thrive in environments where they feel respected and understood, as opposed to feeling monitored and controlled.
We propose a constructive dialogue between parents, students, and school officials to revisit these policies. By fostering open communication, we can integrate student input in decisions affecting their daily lives, thereby creating a more supportive and inclusive school environment for everyone.
Sign this petition to urge Fareham Academy to reconsider immediate changes to their disciplinary policies, ensuring they are fair, balanced, and in the best interest of all students.
